Boyup Brook Removalists
Boyup Brook lies some 264 kilometres south of Perth in the South West region. Boyup Brook has a population of approximately 1,600 people.
The district was first settled in 1854 by Commodore Scott, and by 1882 there were 19 families within the district. The township of Boyup Brook was formed, and in 1909 the railway line to Donnybrook first opened. This greatly assisted the transport of timber from the nearby Wilga and Chowerup areas, along with flax from the Boyup Brook flax mill. This mill was the last flax mill in Australia to close in the 1960’s.
Today Boyup Brook is best known for it’s farming and the annual Boyup Brook Country music festival. The founder of the music festival Harvey Dickson is reputed to have one of the largest record collections in Australia.
